What is a scarf?
“Muffler” is the Japanese word for the English word “muffler,” but overseas, “scarf” is often used as a general term for all kinds of scrolls, including “stoles,” “mufflers,” and “scarves. The word “muffle” means “to wrap or cover” in English, and it is said that the name “muffler” came to be used because of its role in wrapping and covering the neck. In Japan, it was also called a muffler in the old days, and had a strong image of being worn by hermits and sick people, but now it has established a firm position as an indispensable fashion item for men and a winter garment.
